Vlad Shulea is a black & grey realism tattoo artist based in Bucharest, specialising in realistic portraits and large-scale pieces. How long has Vlad Shulea been tattooing?
Since 2011. He bought his first tattoo machines at 16, while still at school, then worked in studios in Bucharest, Copenhagen, Birmingham and Amsterdam.
What awards has Vlad Shulea won?
Two awards at the Wrexham Tattoo Show (UK), in November 2018: 2nd place for Best Portrait and 2nd place for Best Small Black & Grey, with an Amy Winehouse portrait.

Does Vlad Shulea copy existing tattoos?
No. Every piece is drawn for the client who wears it, starting from their idea and references.
Does Vlad Shulea teach tattooing?
Yes. “Drumul Tatuatorului” is his 12-week mentorship for tattoo artists, held in Romanian. The first group starts in January 2027 and sign-up is through the waiting list.
